Sunday Rewind

Awesome experience this past Sunday. Always good to fellowship together and reflect on what those before us believed in passionately. Some thoughts:
  • Love reading John 3:17 to students at BMS this morning: 'For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it but that the world might be SAVED through HIM.'
  • We must focus our attention on the Cross
  • Abram heard God and was obedient to Go
  • 'For me and my house, we will serve the Lord'
  • Check out John 3 and the story of Nicodemus this week in prep for message Sunday
  • Invite others this weekend
  • Is it ok with you if God decides to build His church in your area and not use your church?

That's all for now, lean on Him and not your own understanding

Fear or faith

Started reading devo by Max Lucado on our lives in the absence of fear. First scripture is from Matthew 14:27; "Take courage. I am here." Is that a statement for us today or what? We all face and deal with fear in different ways. We also internalize fear to the point of in activity. The disciples were indeed frightened. My daughters get almost uncontrollable if lightning or thunder comes unexpected. It is a real fear. And when it comes unannounced that magnifies the intensity of the fear. Jesus said to take courage. Each of us are facing fears in the ministry that are real. Most of the time it comes unannounced. And like the disciples, we tend to forget who is ultimately in control of the universe. God Almighty! May that give each of us power in Him to overcome those things that bind us or prevent us from doing the will of God.

  • Sweet service today at GBC.
  • Baptism and Lord's Supper always a special day and having them on same morning makes it even better.
  • 121's discussed strategies for Compassion night in October.
  • Group seems excited and are willing to help lead on this special night of outreach and helping the less fortunate.
  • New SS/LG's, committees, and leadership for the upcoming church year creates an exciting time and time for apprehension.
  • We pray God is in/with us and leading through His Holy Spirit.
  • 1 Cor. 11:23-32 Let each of us examine ourselves and not our fellow brother/sister

CentriKid Devo

We broke down Luke 9:57-60 this morning in adult devo time. Lip service will not get you very far in life or the call to follow Christ. Jesus told these would be's what it will actually take to follow Him. Die to self, put Him before family, and be a light (spread the Gospel) and go! We seemingly do one or the other of these things. Total committment to Christ is nothing to play with or do flippantly. You and I will be accountable to God the Father. James 3:1 reminds us of our responsibility to speak the truth in His name.

Devotion

I was listening to Steven Furtick yesterday and a thought he had really struck home. In Acts 2:42 "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching..." We are so the spoon fed generation. I too try and make students devote themselves to reading and leaning on God's Word. We must devote ourselves to the teaching of the Holy Scriptures. We cannot save anybody! God is the only one! We will do what we want to do. We can encourage and show by example but each person will be held accountable to what they devoted themselves to do.
